SUB DIVISION isn’t just a tribute — it’s the result of a lifelong obsession with Joy Division. We’ve spent years chasing those details: learning every part exactly as it was played, dialing in the tones, and tracking down the same instruments and effects that brought their music to life. It's a group dedicated to channeling the spirit of a band that changed us, and to sharing that energy with the people who feel the same.
Our shows are more than a setlist. Stark visuals inspired by Peter Saville’s iconic designs. Custom posters from local artists. The kind of immersive atmosphere that drops you right into Joy Division’s world and keeps you there until the last note fades.
Made up of veteran members from Phantom Fiction, Mahayla, The Public, Falling Janus, and Caffetine, SUB-Division brings Joy Division’s music to the stage with the same pulse and intensity, from “Love Will Tear Us Apart” to the drive of “Disorder.” Every vocal melody, bassline, and guitar texture is shaped by the same elements that made their music timeless: Martin Hannett’s atmospheric production, Peter Hook’s unmistakable bass tone, and Bernard Sumner’s unique guitar work, all played through the period correct gear.
